An ear-shaped shell with a concave outer lip, 5-8 perforations and a smooth exterior. Characteristic red stain on inside of spire. 50-60 mm. Found in shallow exposed intertidal areas often in red bait beds or small clefts in the rock. Feeds on red alga.
