NOTES

A flat urchin with two slits in the back half of the test. The short, fur-like spines drop off when the animal dies leaving the characteristic pattern of holes through which the tube feet extend when the animal is alive. Grows to 43 mm. Buries itself just below the sand surface in sheltered areas and feeds on fine organic particles.
