NOTES

A harmless jellyfish up to 35 cm in diameter, with a smooth bell distinguished by a conspicuous internal cross. Lacks tentacles but has fleshy 3-winged arms with many small openings through which food is passed to the stomach. Occurs in swarms and often migrates up the river by the thousand during winter. Eats zooplankton.
