NOTES

An endemic fish, the juveniles of which are common in estuaries. Small juveniles feed mainly on zooplankton and later on algae, isopods and amphipods. Spawns offshore in winter. Often shoals with Cape stumpnose. Adults to 28 cm with 14-15 pectoral fin rays.
