A gregarious worm 20 mm long which lives in a long narrow tube with a funnel-like opening at one end through which it sticks out its branching, ciliated gill plumes at high tide to feed on particles. Originates from Australia and grows rapidly, altering the physical environment. It may increase oxygen and nutrient levels.
