NOTES

A large crab growing to about 120 mm which is found in intertidal estuaries. The carapace has a long spine on each side and the nippers are ridged and slender. It is a scavenger on dead animals and also eats molluscs and crustaceans. It can be vicious if cornered. Remains buried in the sand most of the time but comes out to feed at high tide.
